The language around our unique Australian apex predator needs to be revised, so as to honour, reflect upon and acknowledge the important role that the Dingo plays in regulating biodiversity throughout Australia's varied ecosystems.
As the article below demonstrates, there are far more pure Dingoes inhabiting wild areas of NSW than previously expected. Our torturous pest control methods are indiscriminately harming our beloved Dingo through the utilisation of the blanket term "wild dog" to describe any canine occupying wild spaces in this country. Of course the lucrative 1080 poison industry thrives as a result of this outdated terminology, but it is time for us to stand up and demand a change!!
